Privacy Policy

This policy covers daybreakbipolar.com, the personal website of Brittany Peckham, author of Daybreak: Finding Light After a Bipolar Storm. I’ll call it “this site” below, and “I” means Brittany.

I’ve tried to write this in plain language, and to describe what actually happens rather than list every hypothetical. Given what this site is about, I’d rather be direct with you.

What this site does not do

• No cookies. None are set by this site.
• No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no heatmaps, no session recording, and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind.
• No advertising and no ad networks.
• No selling or sharing of personal information. Ever, to anyone.
• No profiles. I have no way to tell who visited, what you read, or how long you stayed.

This matters more than usual here. People arrive at this site while researching mental illness, hospitalization, and crisis — that’s private, and it should stay that way.

What is stored on your device

Two things are saved in your browser’s local storage. Both stay on your device, are never transmitted anywhere, and are not visible to me:

• Your light/dark theme preference, so the site looks the same next visit.
• Your ticked items on the hospital bag checklist, so you can close the page and come back to it.

Clearing your browser data removes both. Nothing is lost but convenience.

Server logs

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like essentially all web hosts, Cloudflare processes standard technical request data — IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp — to serve pages and protect against attacks. I don’t have access to an identifiable log of who read what, and I don’t use this data. It’s handled underCloudflare’s privacy policy.

Email

If you email me at [email protected], I receive your message and address so I can reply. I keep correspondence unless you ask me to delete it. I don’t add people to any list because they emailed me.

If you join the email list, I store the address you give me and nothing else — no name required, no demographics. I use it to send new posts and occasional recommendations. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you permanently. I will never sell, rent, or share the list.

Note: the signup form is not yet connected to an email provider. Until it is, no addresses are being collected at all. When it goes live, this page will name the provider used.

Links to other sites

This site links out — to NAMI, the 988 Lifeline, other organizations, and to Amazon where the book is sold. Once you follow a link, you’re on their site under their privacy policy, not this one. I have no control over and no visibility into what they collect.

There are currently no affiliate links on this site. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly on the pages where they appear, and this policy will be updated.

Children

This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them. Some material here describes psychosis, hospitalization, and suicide, and is written for adults.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the UK and EU, and the CCPA in California — you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to its processing.

In practice, the only personal data I hold is an email address, and only if you gave me one. Email [email protected] and I’ll delete it, no questions and no retention period. You don’t need to give a reason.

Changes to this policy

If this site starts doing something new with data — analytics, a mailing list provider, affiliate links — I’ll update this page and change the date at the top. I won’t make a material change quietly.
