Terms of Use
Last updated August 4, 2026
By using daybreakbipolar.com you’re agreeing to what’s below. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
1. This is not medical advice
I write about my own experience of bipolar disorder, psychosis, and psychiatric hospitalization. I have no medical, psychiatric, psychological, or clinical qualifications whatsoever.
Nothing on this site is:
- A diagnosis, or a tool for diagnosing yourself or anyone else
- Treatment advice, or guidance on medication
- A substitute for care from a qualified professional
- A reason to start, stop, or change any treatment
Bipolar disorder is a serious illness that responds to treatment. What worked for me may be wrong, or harmful, for you. Please make decisions about your health with someone qualified to help you make them — not with a website.
The checklists and guides here describe what one person found useful. Every hospital, clinician, and person is different. Treat them as a starting point for questions, never as instructions.
2. This is not a crisis service
This site is not monitored. Emails are not read in real time, and there is nobody here waiting to respond to an emergency. Please do not rely on it in a crisis.
3. Content warning
This site describes psychosis, psychiatric hospitalization, suicidal thinking, and grief in frank detail. That honesty is the point of the work, but it can be difficult to read, particularly if you’re unwell. Individual pages carry notices where the material is heaviest. Please look after yourself, and stop reading if you need to.
4. Copyright
All content here — writing, photographs, downloadable guides, and passages from Daybreak: Finding Light After a Bipolar Storm — is © 2026 Brittany Peckham, all rights reserved.
You’re welcome to quote briefly with attribution and a link back, and to share links freely. Please don’t republish whole posts, reproduce the book excerpts, redistribute the downloadable PDFs as your own, or use anything here to train machine-learning models, without written permission. To ask, email[email protected] — I’m generally happy to say yes.
5. Using the site
Please don’t:
- Attempt to disrupt, attack, or gain unauthorised access to the site
- Scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other people
- Use it for anything unlawful, or to harass anyone
- Misrepresent yourself as connected to Brittany or the book
6. Links to other sites
This site links to organizations like NAMI, the 988 Lifeline, and retailers including Amazon. Those links are provided because they’re genuinely useful, but I don’t control those sites and I’m not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Including a link isn’t an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.
Book recommendations are personal opinion. There are currently no affiliate links here; if that changes it will be disclosed on the page.
7. No warranties
This site is provided “as is.” I try to keep it accurate and available, but I can’t promise it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or current — details about hospitals, organizations, and services change, sometimes without notice.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Brittany Peckham is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where such limitation would be unlawful.
9. Changes
These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top will change when they are. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
